We are thrilled to present our second annual season of Music on the Strait. Due to overwhelming support during our inaugural season, we have expanded to five concerts spanning the last two weeks of August. This season, we share some of most beautiful and moving works of music we know—we hope you will walk away from our concerts feeling inspired and eager for more.

  • The opening night on August 23 features Schubert’s transcendent Cello Quintet alongside works by Dvorak and Barrière. This program features two principals from the Grammy-winning Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra—violinist Kyu-Young Kim and violist Maiya Papach.

  • Our second program on August 24 showcases cellist Ani Aznavoorian, a returning festival favorite, in Shostakovich’s dynamic Cello Sonata as well as the romantic and underperformed Piano Quintet in F by American composer Amy Beach.

  • On August 25, our 2019 Special Guest Artists are on display in a matinee recital featuring works by Bach, Lutoslawski, and Beethoven. Don’t miss two of America’s most in-demand concert artists, violinist Stefan Jackiw and pianist Orion Weiss in recital—they will take your breath away!

  • Our fourth program on August 30th features two masterpieces inspired by, or created during, World War II.  Olivier Messiaen’s masterpiece, Quartet for the End of Time, was written when the composer was a prisoner-of-war under the Nazi regime. Also featured is Steve Reich’s emotional journey Different Trains for string quartet.

  • Our 2019 season comes to close on August 31st with our popular pay-what-you-can Community Grand Finale. This program features clarinetist Yoonah Kim in Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet as well as bassist Steven Schermer, raised in Port Angeles, in Schubert’s Trout Quintet. Both of our 2019 Special Guest Artists will also

We hope to see you at all five of our diverse and exciting programs. Thank you for your support; we can’t wait to see you this summer!
